Twimpact: An Impact Factor for Twitter.

There is one hype that I have not made friend with in the last year: Twitter. Recently, my colleagues Mikio Braun and Matthias Jugel have launched a new project named Twimpact, which aims at providing an impact factor for twitter posts (tweets) – demonstrating that Twitter might be more than just a bunch of pointless messages. I am not sure, though. The official project website is located at www.twimpact.com. An introduction to the underlying twimpact factor is provided here.

Hi Konrad,

thanks for pointing to twitter. We're still rolling out some interesting features right now. For example, we've restricted the number of times a user can retweet a specific message to one to cut down on retweet spambots (interesting for security as well?). Right now, we're reprocessing the whole data base with an improved retweet text matcher which is more robust to (minor) edits.

Leo has also worked on a very nice visualization called "retweet radar" to show the "retweet network".

Right now, we're clearing up some performance issue with the database. Make sure to check back on us when you have time!
